Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Lucid Margin is free to read and carries no advertising. It is funded by affiliate commission. This page explains exactly how that works, so that you can weigh what you read here knowing what the publisher is paid for.
The arrangement, in one paragraph
Some links on this site point to the World of Tanks website and are paid affiliate links. When a reader follows one of those links and goes on to create and activate an account at the destination, the affiliate network that operates the link pays a commission to JustOne s.r.o., the publisher of this site. That is the whole of the commercial arrangement. No commission is paid for reading a page, and none is paid on money a reader later spends inside a game.
What it costs you
Nothing. You pay the same as any visitor who reaches the vendor by typing its address. Following an affiliate link does not change a price, a term, an offer or an eligibility rule at the destination, and declining to use one costs you nothing either: the vendor's site can be reached directly, and the method taught in this workbook works identically whichever way you get there.
Where the affiliate links appear
There is at most one in any given place, each sits inside a paragraph doing other work, and each carries a note beside it saying it is paid and what triggers the commission:
- On the course overview, in the section explaining where the title appears in the workbook and why.
- In Step 1, where the free-to-play model is explained and readers are sent to the vendor for its own details.
- In Step 2, where readers are sent to the vendor's published system requirements rather than a copy of them.
- In Step 3, where readers are sent to the vendor's own terms, privacy notice and age rules.
- In Step 4, where the vendor's support pages are the right destination for a problem only they can see.
- In Step 5, where what a shop currently contains is the vendor's to state.
There are no affiliate links on the About page, the Contact page, the checklists page or any of the four legal pages, and no paragraph anywhere on this site exists solely to carry one. Each affiliate link opens in a new tab and is marked for search engines as sponsored, which is the technical way of saying publicly what this page says in words.
What the commission does not decide
It does not decide what the course says. The five steps teach a method — how to read a requirements table, how to find four things in a sign-up page before typing an email address, how to convert a token price back into dollars, how to tell a graphics problem from a connection problem — and that method is identical for every title in the category, including every title this site earns nothing from.
It does not decide which products are mentioned. One title is named, because the course needs a concrete example of the category it describes, and that title is the one the publisher has a commercial relationship with. That is stated plainly rather than disguised.
It does not produce a recommendation. This site does not rank, score, rate or compare games, and will not while this arrangement exists. You will not find "the best", "our top pick", a star rating or a league table anywhere on these pages.
It does not shorten the course. Every step is written so that a reader who clicks nothing finishes it with the same ability as a reader who clicks everything — the test applied while writing it was whether the workbook still does its job with all six links removed.
What does decide the content
Three things. The order in which decisions actually arise for someone new to this, which is why the terms are read before the install rather than after. What a reader should be able to do at the end of a step, which is why every step finishes in a checklist rather than a summary. And what can be sourced: Australian public bodies for anything with an official answer, the vendor's own documentation for anything product-specific, and plain description for how computers behave. Where none of those covers a question, the step says so rather than filling the gap. The editorial method on the About page sets this out in full, including how often the pages are reviewed.
What is not on this site
No advertising, sponsored posts, paid placements or banners. No testimonials, reviews, ratings or reader submissions. No invented statistics, benchmarks, test results, awards, seals or trust marks. No email capture, newsletter or account, so nothing about you is collected to be sold. The Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy describe that in detail, including that following an affiliate link takes you to a site where the vendor and the network may set their own cookies, under their own notices.
Trademark notice
All brand names on Lucid Margin, World of Tanks among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Lucid Margin, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
This site is not an official site, an authorised source, a partner, a reseller or a support channel for any game publisher. It hosts and supplies no software. Brand names are used to describe the products they belong to and for no other purpose.
